Father's Day is on the way, and there's still plenty of time before Sunday 21st June to get your Father's Day gifts and decorations sorted.

So here's how to make lovely bunting to greet your dad when he gets up for breakfast!

You will need

  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Brown card
  • Red felt
  • White felt
  • PVA glue
  • Twine
  • Pegs

Method

1. First, decide what message you want to make and where you will put it. If you're hanging it from a mantelpiece, go for the short and sweet 'Dad'; if you're putting it up in the bay window, 'We love you Daddy!' will fill up the space much better.

2. Take your brown card and cut out 21 x 21cm squares. Cut out one square for each letter of your message, including punctuation.

3. Next, print and cut out a heart template - the heart should be narrower than an A4 sheet of paper. Use this template to cut out heart shapes from the red felt. Again, cut out one heart per letter of your message, including punctuation.

4. Use printable letter templates or draw your own freehand, and use them to cut out the letters and punctuation of your message from the white felt.

5. Stick the layers of your bunting together with PVA glue: stick the red hearts to the cardboard squares, then stick the letters on top of the hearts.

6. Measure out a length of twine long enough to hold all the letters, with extra at the ends for hanging up the bunting.

7. Attach the card and felt letters to the twine using the pegs, then on Father's Day you can hang your bunting in pride of place!
