How to style a 1920s wedding

1920s style is pretty, fun and very in right now, so if you're a big Roaring Twenties fan why not use it as the theme at your wedding? We've got loads of great ideas to make your 1920s wedding a swinging success!

Cool clothing

Perhaps the most exciting part of the 1920s theme is the clothing. Brides will look fantastic with a glittery, flapper-style wedding dress, with perhaps a fringe of feathers or some awesome beads. Top it off with a cute vintage headpiece to complete the look!

Grooms should think wide-legged trousers, single-breasted jackets and, of course, the classic black and white brogues. Put your bridesmaids in flapper dresses, and encourage headpieces and fascinators amongst your guests for a wedding day that would make Gatsby proud.

Terrific transport

There's only way to arrive at your 1920s wedding: in a classic car! Don't forget to add white ribbons to the front so everybody knows it's a wedding party and you could even tie some tin cans and a 'Just Married' sign to the back.

Of course, you should be prepared for any weather, so make sure you take along a cute umbrella in case the heavens open on the way to your ride.

Dashing decor

The 1920s theme is all about luxurious, over the top parties (perfect for a wedding!) so give your venue the star treatment. An ideal layout for your reception? Think speakeasy, with round tables, soft lighting and a stage for the entertainment.

Even your cake can look the part. You could cover it with art deco shapes and speakeasy symbols, or go for a simple, sleek art deco design - think monochrome icing and geometric shapes.

Get your hands on a pretty cake stand to make your sweet treat look its best, and make sure everyone has a napkin so they can take a piece home!

Fabulous finishing touches

So you've sorted the dress, the car, the venue and the cake - what else? Budget allowing, there are plenty of extra things to do. How about setting up a photo booth for your guests, complete with a vintage camera?

For the entertainment, you could hire someone to give your guests a crash course in the Charleston, or for those of you with a smaller budget, get your hands on a typewriter so everyone can type their messages for the guest book!
