A mid-century modern haul from the dotcomgiftshop sale

The countdown is complete, the big day is here, we don’t have to wait a moment longer… I’m talking about the launch of the dotcomgiftshop Winter Sale, of course.
With so many bargains to be had, the sale has quickly become a highlight of my festive calendar. As I browsed the website and added more and more cut-price homewares to my basket, I realised that I had snaffled myself a distinctly 'mid-century modern' haul.
Seeing as I live in a home that was built in the 1950s, I’m really pleased that my shopping will fit in with the style of the house. I want to show you all the deals I found in the dotcomgiftshop sale and hopefully inspire you to include a touch of playful mid-century style to your home for Spring 2017.
Mid century poppy placemat and coaster

The first items I picked up were these mid-century poppy placemats and coasters. I’ve never owned a set of mats and, as a result, our McIntosh dining table was starting to look a little worse for wear. I decided to pick up 6 placemats and coasters to ensure we had enough place settings for guests when we have friends round for dinner.
I hoped that the colours would be right for my home, and when I first laid out the placemats around the table for breakfast, I was delighted with the result. They added a splash of colour that livened up the teak wood.
Vintage clocks

I picked up a pair of clocks in the sale too; one for the office wall and an alarm clock for my bedside table. You can never really tell what the quality will be like when you’re shopping online but I was pleasantly surprised by this 50s-inspired wall clock. It’s a weighty, chunky metal clock and far surpassed my expectations of flimsy plastic replicas I’d seen in the past.

The alarm clock is a vivid colour, a curvy retro shape and really well made. The fun TV design comes in lots of different colours so I might go back and buy another of these cute alarm clocks for the guest bedroom too.
Mid century floral tea towel and oven gloves

This floral oven glove and tea towel inject a bit of bright mid-century pattern to my kitchen. Seeing as ‘Greenery’ is Pantone’s colour of the year for 2017, I feel really on-trend with these rich green hues. Again, the print reminds me of an authentic atomic design and brings a touch of 50s style to my modern kitchen without looking dated or out of place.
The crisp cotton fabric is machine washable so I’m not worried about getting stuck into my festive baking – if I spill anything on these, I can just pop the towel and glove on a cool wash to freshen them up again.
Vintage blue metal storage drawer

These mini drawers are an essential-yet-fun way to store my office bits and pieces. I’d had my eye on them for a while but knew that I wanted to buy a few, not just one. So when they were reduced to such a good price in the sale, I snapped up three of them!
I’ve got them lined up on my mid-century teak desk at the moment, but I might fix the boxes to the wall when I decide on a permanent position for them. Each drawer has a hole in the back, ready for screwing into the wall so it would be easy to hang them and free up more desk space.
