Three fun lunch box ideas
Laura & Tia from Little Button Diaries are here to help you pack a healthy lunch that the kids will love with these three easy peasy lunch box ideas - pinwheel sandwiches, owl carrots and chocolate dipped pears. Yum!
You will need:
For each sandwich:
- 2 slices of bread
- Various soft fillings - e.g. cream cheese, grated carrot, jam etc.
- Rolling pin
For the carrot owls:
- A large carrot
- Cheese
- Small animal cookie cutter
For the dipped pears:
- 50g milk chocolate
- 1 pear
- Sprinkles
- Parchment paper
Pinwheel sandwiches
Cut off the crusts, then use a rolling pin to flatten the slices of bread.
Add the sweet or savoury toppings to your bread and overlap the slices of bread a little.
Starting at one end carefully roll up your sandwich and wrap in cling film. Pop in the fridge for 30 minutes to chill.
Cut and serve.
Carrot Shapes
Peel the carrot and cut off the ends. Slice lengthwise, about 1cm thick. Cut into rectangles.
Cut the shape out of the centre of the carrot with the cookie cutter. Cut the cheese into 1cm thick slices and cut shapes from the cheese with the cutter. Pop the cheese shapes into the carrots.
Perfect for popping into a snack pot!
Chocolate dipped pears
Cut the pear into eighths lengthways.
Melt the chocolate in a small bowl over a pan of boiling water.
Once the chocolate has melted, dip the pear into the chocolate and place onto a piece of parchment paper. Add sprinkles then leave to harden.
A sweet treat that's hard to beat, ideal for a snack pot.
What a delicious spread!
