Timeless homeware: natural rattan and olive green shades

Olive shades

When I think of olive green, I’m transported to the heart of nature. Its softer, muted shade evokes images of forests and landscapes, giving off a sense of calm and tranquillity. It’s like bringing a piece of the outdoors into your home, creating a sanctuary of peace.

The colour is also far more versatile than you might expect. It seamlessly fits into various design styles, from sleek, modern aesthetics to cosy, rustic vibes. As a calming background or a striking accent, it works its magic in any setting. I particularly love how it pairs with earthy tones and natural materials like wood and stone, enhancing that organic feeling.

Olive green offers a unique blend of warmth and sophistication. It’s a muted colour that adds depth without being overpowering, making it perfect for both large and smaller spaces. Whether you’re revamping an entire room or adding a few touches here and there, it can transform the look and feel of your home.

One of my favourite things about this shade is how beautifully it pairs with a wide range of colours. Neutrals like beige and grey complement it perfectly, while bolder hues like red, purple, yellow, and navy make it pop. This versatility means you can easily integrate olive green into your existing colour scheme!

There’s an obvious connection between olive green and the outdoors, promoting a sense of wellness that is increasingly influencing home decor trends. Colours that remind us of the natural world are becoming more popular as people seek to create calming environments that promote well-being.

There are countless ways to incorporate olive green into your home decor. For a bold look, consider an accent wall - it can serve as a stunning focal point in any room. If you’d prefer a more subtle touch, olive green sofas, chairs, or pieces of art can introduce colour without dominating the room.

Even small details can have a huge impact. Tableware items like vases, lamps, glassware, and placemats in olive green can create a calm and inviting place to enjoy time with loved ones. Here I have used a mixture of textures. The coloured glassware works organically with the rustic placemats and enamel candle holders. My theme here is natural: bringing the outside in with lots of layering.

Wicker and rattan continue to make a strong comeback in interior design. Not only are they easy on the eye, but also incredibly versatile. Traditionally linked to outdoor furniture, it’s now become popular inside the home, with both furniture and accessories.

Derived from renewable plants, these materials bring warmth and texture and contrast beautifully with harder elements like metal and glass. The rustic weaves suit both bohemian and minimalistic interiors. Sustainability is crucial, and these products are increasingly popular eco-friendly alternatives to synthetics.
