Spring cleaning: a handy checklist

Spring will be here soon - and this year, we want to help you be as organised as possible for your annual deep clean. We’ve put together the ultimate spring cleaning checklist below to help you get started, including a handy graphic to pin or print. 

Back to basics

These are general spring cleaning chores for any room of the house. Whether you start from top to bottom or from small to large – find a way that feels natural to you, but make sure you tick off these must-dos.

• Sort junk or loose items and decide what you want to bin, donate or put in storage
• Dust and wipe down all surfaces and corners (doorknobs, cabinets, walls)
• Vacuum and wash floors
• Vacuum couches
• Clean windows (inside and outside)
• Clean appliances
• Wash or replace bedding and pillows
• Switch out seasonal clothing 
• Wash or replace curtains and drapes
• Shake out or wash rugs
• Change air/furnace filters
• Vacuum or turn over mattress

Dig deep 

These are deep cleaning tasks that will probably need a good chunk of time to tackle, but worth the effort in the end!

• Deep clean oven or schedule professional cleaning
• Shampoo carpet or schedule professional cleaning
• Touch up paint
• Clean under and behind appliances
• Organise closets
• Deep clean pots and pans
• Organise all storage cabinets (pantry, bathroom, bedrooms)
• Clean out and organise fridge and freezer
• Deep clean vents and baseboards

Take it outside

As the weather gets warmer, there’s no better time to spruce up the yard, here are some handy tips to start with.

• Wash off and wipe down outdoor furniture
• Power wash surfaces
• Get rid of cobwebs 
• Replace outdoor light fixtures if needed
• Sort and clean gardening tools
• Start pulling weeds
